Reena is a patent prosecutor and strategist, with significant experience in strategic patent procurement and portfolio development of complex technologies and processes. She has over 20 years of experience in all aspects of U.S. and foreign patent procurement, including application preparation, filing, and prosecution strategies, practice under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) and European oppositions, and administrative appeals, including extensive oral arguments before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, Interferences, and Petitions and Protests. Reena also has significant experience in post-issuance practice with reissue and reexamination proceedings before the U.S. Patent Office, having personally handled over 40 reexamination proceedings since the Central Reexamination Unit at the U.S. Patent Office was established in 2005.
Reena has developed major patent portfolios in the telecommunications area, including call routing and interactive call processing technologies, communication networks, and wireless networks and systems. One such portfolio that Reena developed was licensed to over 200 companies. She has also procured patents for computer software and hardware systems, internet-based systems, database management systems, laser technologies, biomedical and diagnostic technologies, and alternative energy systems, among others, for many companies including Motorola, AST Research, Rockwell International, Evans & Sutherland, Sun Microsystems, Mitsubishi, Siemens, and A2D L.P.
Before joining Patent Law Works, Reena was with a number of intellectual property firms, including Berry & Associates P.C., Lyon & Lyon, Darby & Darby, and Knobbe, Martens, Olsen & Bear, and was also in-house at A2D L.P., serving as its Vice-President of Intellectual Property. Reena has additionally worked as a consulting design and test engineer, developing custom design and test software for various semiconductor companies.
