Lance’s practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications. Prior to joining Patent Law Works as an associate, Lance was a law clerk for the firm as well as for Bateman IP, where he assisted in various intellectual property litigation matters.
While earning his law degree at the University of Utah, Lance served as the Student Intellectual Property Law Association president, and also participated in Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court. Between his second and third years of law school, Lance externed at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he worked with patent examiners in TC 2600 writing office actions. Also, during his third year in law school, Lance drafted a request for ex parte reexamination for a non-profit organization as part of the New Ventures Clinic at the University of Utah.
While earning his B.S. in Applied Physics, Lance did coursework in analog and digital electronics, semiconductors, electrodynamics, quantum and particle physics, mechanics, optics, programming, and mathematical computation. He also has experience in a number of computer-related technology areas, including web applications, mobile applications, data management, data processing, social networks, e-commerce, business methods, and telecommunications.
